“Healthy Swaps” was published in the January Issue of Runner’s World.- Snack substitutions to cut 100 calories from your daily diet -

Instead of Bagel with 2 oz. cream cheese (490 calories)

Choose Whole-wheat English muffin with 2 tablespoons peanut butter and half a banana (390 calories)

Instead of 2 cookies (360 calories)

Choose 1 oz. dark chocolate chips, 1/2 oz. almonds, and 1 oz. dried cherries (200 calories)

Instead of 16-oz. fruit smoothie (266 calories)

Choose 1/2 cup low-fat Greek yogurt and 1 cup blueberries (160 calories)

Instead of 10 pretzels (227 calories)

Choose 15 baby carrots with 2 tablespoons hummus (105 calories)

And, for you weekend celebrators, I’ve added a couple more options:

Instead of regular/stuffed crust pizza

Choose thin crust pizza

Instead of 2 regular beers

Choose 2 light beers

Instead of Chips

Choose 1 cup air-popped popcorn
